The US has to avoid victimizing - yet again - those who violate laws and norms. With reports coming out of Caracas that indicate that latest unpublished poll data is tracking a precipitous fall in popularity for Mr. Chavez (down now to a bit above 20%), it would be a pity if blunt, unilateral, sanctions end up backfiring this meltdown. Mr. Chávez must hang from the rope he has bought with our billions and not from some Made in the USA contraption. A proper outing - full disclosure - of the man's criminal deeds might actually be all that need to be done ... the facts might do wonders to isolate him from most of the world and cut his final link to a frustrated and hungry electorate. The battle now is between those who want too draw their guns too early and those that want a party to celebrate the fairy tale, very Dominican (i.e. tropical) ending to a story that has not even began to play out. Let the facts flow and gravity will do the rest. PMBAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
